Our commitment
Four Legs Good NY NJ Inc. is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that the work of connecting animals with loving homes — and inviting people to support that work — should be accessible to as wide an audience as possible.
We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our reference standard for accessibility.
What we have done
We design our site with accessibility in mind, including:
- Sufficient color contrast for text against background
- Keyboard navigation support throughout the site
- Descriptive text for links and buttons
- Alt text for images where it conveys meaningful content
- Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels
- Bilingual content (English and Spanish) for our main public pages
Known limitations
We are a small nonprofit, and our site is maintained by a combination of staff and volunteer effort. We acknowledge that there may be areas where our accessibility falls short of our intentions, including:
- Some images may lack descriptive alt text
- PDF documents available for download (such as adoption application forms) may not be fully screen-reader optimized
- Embedded third-party content (such as our donation form hosted by Zeffy) is governed by the accessibility practices of those third parties, which we do not control
We are working to address these limitations over time as we are able.
