Our Shelter
A place of compassion and second chances
Since September 2023, Four Legs Good has operated the RG CARES (Center for Animal Rescue and Educational Services) Animal Shelter in partnership with the local community. It is the largest animal care facility in the county.
Under our management, the shelter has undergone a dramatic operational overhaul: new cleaning standards, prioritized play and socialization time, rebuilt relationships with local shelters, rescues & veterinarians, and a commitment to treating every animal as an individual with their own needs and personality.
We care for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals. Every animal receives veterinary care, proper nutrition, enrichment, and the time it takes to find them the right home.

What We Provide
Comprehensive animal care

Veterinary Care
Every animal receives a full veterinary exam, vaccinations, and any necessary medical treatment. Spay/neuter is included with all adoptions.

Proper nutrition tailored to each animal’s needs. Shelter staff works with veterinarians to ensure every animal is on the right diet for their health and age.

Enrichment & Socialization
Daily play time, socialization with volunteers, and environmental enrichment keep animals mentally and physically healthy while they wait for their forever home.

Adoption Matching
The application and interview process ensures every animal goes to a home that fits. We match animals to lifestyles, not impulses.

Our Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return program humanely manages community cat populations across Rockland County. Learn more

Together, we provide Rockland County with professional, compassionate animal sheltering services.
