Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return is the humane and effective approach for managing feral cat populations. It is successfully practiced worldwide and in every landscape and setting. (Like this)
Cats are humanely trapped and taken to a veterinarian to be neutered and vaccinated against rabies and distemper. After recovery, they are returned to their home colony outdoors. Kittens and cats who are friendly and socialized may be adopted into homes instead.
TNVR stops the breeding cycle and improves cats’ lives while preventing reproduction. Spaying and neutering greatly reduce nuisance behavior. Fighting, yowling, spraying and noise associated with mating stops almost entirely.
How It Works
Trap: Feral and community cats are humanely trapped using safe, purpose-built traps. Our experienced volunteers handle trapping with care.
Neuter & Vaccinate: Cats are spayed/neutered by a licensed veterinarian and vaccinated against rabies and distemper. They are ear-tipped for identification so they are never trapped twice.
Return: After recovery, cats are returned to their colony. Friendly or socialized cats and kittens may be placed into the shelter for adoption.
